Kablooey! v1.2 Review
By Snail on 25 December 2009

Pros: Amazing graphics and sounds, brilliant interface, and many, many possibilities.

Cons: Gets a bit monotonous at times.

New Favorite Word

Kablooey! Best word ever.

When I started playing this game, the first thing I noticed: It was extremely hard. Mainly just getting the drift of it though. Eventually, the game lends itself to challenge the player and take an object, think of any possible purpose it could be used for, and just throw it somewhere. A lot of times it doesn't work. When it does though, it pretty much makes up for the times it doesn't. And frankly, combining a <spoiler> with a <spoiler> and then lighting it with a <spoiler> and using it as a heat source for the <spoiler>, alongside cleaning the <spoiler> with a <spoiler> and decorating the <spoiler> with <spoiler> to complete an objective is damn fun.

5/5 - Graphics: Simply enough, it just looked good. Professional and all. Effects were combined well, and (although this is a personal preference) the logo looks awesome.

5/5 - Sound: Same reasons as graphics, they sounded good and blended well. Best music I've heard in any GM game to-date; I'll probably be running this game in the background just for the music.

4/5 - Gameplay: The reason I like it so much is mainly how many possible things you can combine and make. It gets marked off one point for monotony though. Once you get all five hours it's a bit annoying to do all five hours again if you get stuck on an objective.

4/5 - Story: Brilliant story, although could've been a bit better. Plot progression is a bit weak; you don't really get more insight as you unlock more hours of the day. Description of the city, however, is ridiculously well-detailed.

5/5 - Interface: No complaints about it. Just your everyday interface. Maybe might've been better to make arrow keys relocate though; means you don't have to move your mouse as far, and can therefore get more things done faster.

Overall rating, 5/5. Great job, good luck at 2BG smile
