Super-big-fun
Graphics: [B] the graphics are sharp and colorful. Nicely drawn and traditional. It may seem that the retro graphic style is over used but they are rarely implemented as greatly as they are in this game. Everything fits and even though the graphics are set to be a retro-like style, smooth animations still take place. Proper detail was placed on the objects and areas where needed so no confusion ever takes place. (graphics received a 'B' for un-creativity and lack of realism, as well as only having one environment)
Sound: [A] all the sound fit the game's graphics and gameplay perfectly. All high quality 8-bit sounds play smoothly in the ears of the players. Unlike a lot of 8-bit sounds used in YYG games, these sounds aren't loud and annoying. They don't take away from the experience but add to it.
Gameplay: [B] gameplay is the most important part of any game, Super Big Gun Adventure certainly is a great example of that. While the gameplay can get annoying at parts (like shooting downward to float over lava or shooting at enemies and falling backwards) it still seems fresh and fun. Not often do you see gameplay featuring such a "Big Gun" that actually effects the gameplay the way it did. The recoil from the gun shoots your character backwards and changes the way you control your character. Level design that requires you to use this feature are implemented. Areas where you must shoot through walls using your big gun to get farther through the game. The idea and planning that was put into this game is uncanny.
Aside from some minor annoyances, the gameplay is fun and creative. (received a 'B' for un-progressive difficulty and variety in objects/enemies)
Story: [F] the game has no storyline what so ever but doesn't effect the overall rating because the style of the game needs no storyline to be as successful as it is.
Interface: [A] not a single problem with handling your character, menus or collisions. The only difficult part would have been the speed at which the gun pushes you.
Overall: [B+] this game comes close to a perfect score. If not for the lack of variety and story, this would be a perfect game to be put up on the shelves (in the
's) Everything in the game ties together so well and all elements complement each other. Nothing seems out of place when you play this game. I expect this to be featured in no time. (and i hope it does because it would blow most the featured platformers away)
