Starload Review

Pros: Fun graphics, good sound
Cons: Sloppy controls, oversaturation of colors
So close to good...
This game is an awesome baseline for a game, the problem with it is mostly the controls. The music was catchy without being too repetitive, the graphics were slick and made a good use of GM8s recent improvements, and the interface, while simplistic, was easily read. The game got really frustrating when I missed upgrades and enemies because of the odd drift mechanic. It also caused me to get killed trying to fight the boss. A bit of drift is one thing, but it's just far to heavy in this game.
There's still plenty of time to tweak before the contest is over! I'd definitely like to see this as competition later on down the line!

It's supposed to be a very crowded, messy game.

Oversaturation of colors is a justified con.
Subtle backgrounds are sometimes better than more intense ones. I agree with this review. I would recommend possibly reducing the alpha value of the stars, to emphasize the actual ships and show the impressive sprite design more.

Too much colors? That's just a weak con, most people put that in pros. And there's nothing wrong with the controls, you just can't handle it. But for the rest, thank you. xP
