      I've long abandoned this engine for the sole reason of being completely messy and unoptimized. It's unlikely that I'd remake the engine with my better understanding of GML, however if I do, I'm sure it can easily run at 40-60FPS with particle effects for most computers.

      I've spent huge amounts of time going through the code (which is unnecessarily long) to find what was causing the heavy resource use, but without luck. So, there's really no prospect for this particular engine.
