Well, to tell the truth a message/text system outside of show_message would be pretty impossible, the resolution is very low, so if you tried to display text outside of the show_message function it would be gigantic, nevermind all of the text i have for quest givers and npcs, etc. May i ask if you finished the game?

I beg to differ, custom skins for the text box solves none of the problems I had with this, as they pause the game. If I just collected some wood i don't need the game to be paused to tell me this, a simple note at the bottom of the screen would be enough. And opening up text boxes to see stats / inventory seems more like a chore. Especially in comparison to the great simplicity of the actual game. So I wouldn't call it "polish", more "practical".

JackOatley, Some of the things you are talking about, such as a custom text box and inventory, are part of the "polish" stage, i have made a note to improve all of the graphics, as most are just placeholder. Focusing on polish before you have all of the core game elements is a bad idea. I also have so much text that it would be very difficult to implement, a custom skin for GMs text box is the best option. Monk cave is a glitch that is already fixed, fixed it about an hour after i released this.
