Quest Realm Review

Pros: Graphics, Music, Sound Effects

Cons: 2 types of enemies, not challenging, repetitive

A Pleasant Surprise

Graphics: 3/5

The player sprite was great, and i really liked it. But, sadly, the rest of the graphics weren't up to par with it. The platforms weren't very exciting, the purple ghosts weren't animated, and the boss's were pink orbs. I was disappointed that you didn't spend as much time on the other sprites, as you obviously did with the player. I feel that if you did, it would make a large difference and greatly improve your overall score.
I also really enjoyed the fog effect, I thought it was nicely done.

Sound: 3/5

The music was pretty catchy and fit well with the game, and the sound effects were also nice. Nothing to complain about here, but nothing very special either.

Gameplay: 3/5

I like platform games, but this one felt generic and didn't seem very original. If you added more enemy types, more environmental hazards, and a larger variety of bosses, this game could be a lot better. Jumping felt like I had little control, the player would jump too high and I would oftentimes miss the ghost I was try to jump on because it would move out of the way before I landed on it. It would be nice to be able to jump higher depending on how long you hold down the space bar. If you want to learn how to do this, I would suggest googling "variable jumping".

Story; 3/5

Not very original or unique, but at least your game has a story smile

Interface: 2/5

The menu felt like it was tacked on last minute, and it was bland. The health at the top of screen also seemed unprofessional because it was displayed as a number, rather than a visual representation. The lives counter was pretty good tho.

Overall: 3/5

I was pleasantly surprised by this game, but I wasn't blown away. Good luck in the competition smile
