Timewave 2 Review
By death on 11 March 2010

Pros: concept, game play

Cons: no sounds, one music track, strict timing

amazing!

Graphics: [B] from the start, the menu and interface look great. smooth and professional. transparency through out the whole game. lacked a nice logo though. the in-game graphics get much more traditional. basic shapes for tiles and characters. not much shading but a nice color choice that's easy on the eyes. a few effects with transparent blocks when your behind them add to score. overall very decent, nothing that's a particular eyesore, nothing that's highly detailed either.

Sound: [C] the music was a great track, didn't get annoying for quite some time. had nice structure and melody to it. fits with the style of the game... however it only had one track. after playing through the game about an hour, it gets to be a little much. also the lack of in-game sounds is a defiant minus here. not a single sound can be found. it wouldn't take much effort to create the resources for this style of a game, yet they still aren't here.

Gameplay: [A] the front page for the game. the concept is something old but re-created into something new. Time travel, going back through time in a game has existed since gaming it's self has... however, Timewave 2 has done something no other has. with being able to go back through time, several times with in one level. each time you go back, you duplicate yourself and your original self continues to do what they had done originally. do this several times and you can, within only 30 seconds, perform multiple tasks. this is the key to the gameplay in Timewave 2. brain busting puzzles, co-operative team work and race against the clock are common in this game. such a unique style that can keep you entertained from start to finish. only a few frustrating scenes appear, where you might have to make a strict jump or dodge an enemy but after enough tries, you'll succeed and you'll be proud to have spent your time on this game and not it's opposite.

Story: [n/a]

Interface: [A] not a single problem in the interface. smooth easy to use menus and basic controls. my only concern was the jump event. if the up key is held during the landing of a jump, you will jump immediately, sometimes causing you to get an extra jump right before a pitfall and lose a character. (i recommend using the Press Event instead of the Check Event)

OVERALL: [4/5]
all together, this game is a master piece. never before have we seen such a brilliant idea, never again shall we. this game should defiantly go into out favorites list and always be remembered in our minds. this game deserves multiple plays so be sure to come back again even after you've beaten it!

Thanks for taking the time to write a review! I'll definitely look into the things you say about jumping and I probably going to make some sound effects for TW2 ;)
