Nimbus Sky Princess Review

Pros: Excellent Graphics, Solid Gameplay, Great Soundtrack
Cons: Slow, Poor Sfx
What's the first place game doing in third?
This game is well polished, and wonderfully executed. The whole game has a real arcade feeling to it which absolutely hooked me to it, It was unfortunate that the sound didn't deliver. The effects were poor, and the music (Though awesome) sounded perhaps a bit too modern, especially on the first level. The game play elements are done well, the boost and shield systems add a lot of flavor to the game play, and the enemies are varied and creative. This is also the first time I've seen such detailed bosses in a Game Maker game, so well done on that!
My biggest issue was the speed of the game, it looks like a hectic shooter, but the play speed just refuses to deliver. Slow firing, average movement, and a small amount of brick shit-house enemies. I understand that you may have been going for a casual audience, but the ability to choose game difficulty would have been nice, as you really haven't given us hardcore players much to work with. I would say play an arcade shooter and find out, but judging by this game you've obviously done that before. It's not the most original game, but it's definitely one of the best executed freeware games I've ever played.
Great job on this game, this is the best arcade scroller I've seen around here, hope to see more games like this!

Thanks a bunch for the feedback. Difficulty level was a major concern during the development. For the most part it is set to a middle ground for the competition, but a later iteration of the game will try to address the handling of difficulty with something hopefully more interesting then a difficulty select at the start screen. Scaling up as you successfully defeat enemies and resetting upon surviving the emergency death event.
