      "Matrix" is actually latin for "Womb", since matrices were originally only used as containers for determinants. And then someone found out how to use the Least Squares Method to solve linear equations using matrices, and the rest is history.

      I would assume so, matrix is a mathematical term used in calculus as far as I know
