Metroid Prime 2D Echoes Demo 2 Review

Pros: Graphics, Presentation, Sounds, Gameplay, Story
Cons: Controls Still a little scattered, Few Glitches, Some missing Elements, Engine
Truly Amazing
If I gave the previous demo a 5/5 I'm definetely givning this a 5/5.
You've basically updated through all the feedback and the little details you added make the game a lot better when you add them all up.
There really isn't anything bad I can say about graphics because well they're real commercial tiles and nothing could go wrong there, and it all would come down to how you program the graphics and annimations. Now one thing that really left me saying "WTF" was that Alpha Splinter. That thing's freakin punny. It just looks like a recolour, you gotta find better sprites for those. I can't sprite any better and call me a hypocrite but your portal sprites suck.
I noticed you added a few cutscenes from here to there, I especially like the idea of the last one the most but it's really glitchy and needs tons of work. The sound was slightly more precise than before but some sounds tend to play maybe two or three of the same at once and it kind of ruins the purpose of the sound (some door sounds).
I see you've added new enemies and some lighting effects in the beginning, it makes me feel more stranded then ever. Engine seems improved.
I also noticed right at the beginning that the room is kind of split in two, I kind of like that because SM and MZM had alot of divided rooms.
When I type in the Metalridley cheat, it shows Ridley's health bar but he's nowhere to be found but a bunch of Pirates.
The story is exactly like the original with I guess a little twist because
1. There's a Ridley health bar in the cheat
2. In the instructions you mentioned Dark Ridley
3. And as well as Kraid
That would be a true fan's dream to see Ridley and Kraid in Echoes.
I'm not sure how they could fit but I'm sure you'll find a good way to implement them.
The visor buttons are to far from the rest of the controls, and the weapon buttons make you move your
hands a lot. One glitch I have found is the game crashes in Agon somewhere, when you ride the Kinetic
Canon thing and a controls just get disabled.
Some parts from Echoes aren't in here like the Dark Trooper guys, and the Intro. Now the engine is something that
requires a big discussion. I know you're trying to fuse a 3-D with a 2-D engine but try to make it as 2-D as possible
because it is a 2-D game but just a little more of a 2-D engine is all I ask.
So that's my review, try to take a look at the cons, this game has AMAZING potential but there's still some work to be done.
