Vertex Demo 2 Review

Pros: The pixel art and style is great and has a lot of character. It sounds and plays like a classic platformer, sprinkled with some modern sense of variety and logical design flow. Overall, a very promising title!
Cons: Lack of music (though understandable, since it's a demo.) Some sound effects were too alike or didn't fit their purpose well, namely the bow which sounds more like a laser pistol than a bow.
A neat platformer with a lot of potential.
Vertex is a nice looking game with a semi-unintentionally cute art style and mostly fluent and logical in its design. The retroish art style is coupled with blip-blopy sound effects that usually go great with what they represent, although a select few sound effects seem slightly out of place.
It's a demo but it only shows in the way that it lacks any music so far, which is a shame because, aside from not being complete, it's the only place where the game is really lacking. The rest is well made and fun and while the difficulty might seem too easy at first, it gradually builds up the further you get. You control two different characters, Edgar and Lira, with different abilities and weapons. At present, I've found that Lira is the more useful character of the two, despite having a weaker attack power, so I rarely changed back to Edgar after finding her.
Overall, it's a fun game with a lot of potential. It's very well designed and the somewhat minor flaws are overshadowed by the generally great quality of the demo. Keep up the great work!
