Judgement (Competition06) Review
By sonosublime on 28 July 2011

Pros: Story, concept

Cons: Gameplay, sound effects, saving system

A mixed bag

Graphics: 3/5
Not remarkable. But they are consistent, and it's easy enough to see what things are.
It is kind of random though how there is just a door floating in the middle of the field. Why don't you put a house there?

Sound: 3/5
The music was good, but there is not a lot of variety.
The sound effects, on the other hand, were pretty lackluster. Not a lot of them, and when you're getting damaged, it sounds like you're getting hit with a machine gun or something.

Gameplay: 2/5
Leaves a lot to be desired. When you swing the sword, you have to wait before you can swing it again. This means that you have to play hit-and-run with the enemies, which gets old pretty fast.

Shotgun worked well, but ran out of ammo way too fast.

Also, the save system did not work for me. Whenever I was at a hospital bed trying to save, pressing the button caused nothing to happen.

Story: 4/5
This is where the game gets it brownie points. It's an interesting concept choosing who lives and dies. But some context would be nice. Why are there warps to hell appearing inside your house?

Then again, I was not able to see the full story because I could not complete the game due to the dodgy save system.

Interface: 1/5
Terrible. I lost count of the amount of times I accidentally pressed Z and had to wait for the Inventory to load, just to close it down immediately. I would suggest just omitting the room transition.

Overall: 3/5
It has potential, but needs a lot of work.

3/5 for the graphics? Compared to what? These are top notch for the standard YYG game. No music variety? There's a different song for every level. Other than that I can agree...
