Shensetta - Ghosty Review
By SQRKINILR on 20 September 2010

Pros: Original gameplay, with potential.

Cons: Not very intuitive.

Great potention - a bit too chaotic in gameplay.

Ghosty is a neat little challenge. It is unlike many other platformers, due to the hovering and gliding in the air. This adds a nice feel of freedom from the usual jumping and acrobatics, and makes playing this game a different experience. The interface is quite complete, with pro touches like bullet-counters for each weapon etc. The variation in weapons, however, is not too inventive (but maybe more weapons show up later on?). The way you hover around seems well thought out, but the game suffers in general from a non-existing learning-curve (usually happens when the creator gets too used to his/her own game) - the alternative way of moving was highly confusing at first, and caused a lot of stupid mistakes. This very sudden introduction to something I have no possible way of knowing how to deal with, applies to the monsters as well - a couple of opening-levels would have been great. Fortunately I found out that you can survive a lot of things, by simply running instead of fighting (something one might want to look into as the creator). Generally a serious and dedicated creation, but with some irritating flaws for people who are not insane at adjusting quickly to a different gameplay.
