Bukster Chess Review

Pros: The best gamemaker chess engine so far.
Cons: Needs a little bit more opening theory and general knowledge other than book moves. Mating threats are ignored on occasion.
A great GM Engine
A good solid chess game with enough strength to beat someone who has very little experience consistently. Without doubt, this is the only chess engine in written in GML which is able to do this. All the legal moves have been programmed in, which is good.
The program seems to get lost as what to do after it gets out of its book. It will start moving knights to the edge of the board even in the opening and moving the same pieces more than once. It also sometimes sacrifices pieces after a move depth of 2. King safety is neglected as well as castling early on. Eg a game I have just played then to show this (French Defence Advance Variation - its not in the book. Myself as white.): 1 e4 e6 2 d4 d5 3 e5 Nh6? 4 Nf3 Ng4? 5 h3 Nh6 6 Bb5+ Ke7??
Pawn structure is a weakness, but thats totally understandable, it took humans a very long time to figure out it's importance, so I imagine it is very difficult to program.
A very good start for a program and I'd be more than happy to help you develop an opening book and more. Looking out for more on this!!
