Haunton Village Review

Pros: Controls, premise, music, NPC interactions and quests, RPG elements...
Cons: graphics, too easy?
Gameplay, but less graphics
Solid gameplay. Moving around works great, especially how you can jump through platforms from beneath and still land on them from above. Music is good, I love the premise of people being transformed into their halloween costumes. The npc interaction is simple, and effective. I like how it lets to scroll through all the text at your lesure using the same key and without stopping play. And if you wait long enough, the npc resets so you can read the whole thing again. The weapons in the game give you some strategic options like bombing with the ice block, or shooting straight or going for a homing shot, etc. Enemies respawn after enough time that they probably wont come back while your still fighting the group.
Unfortunately, most people will skip this game after looking at the less than stellar graphics. I think you should change the main screenshot because its just a sprite, with screams "bad game". Use a screenshot that includes the platforms and enemies as well. Also, I found that sometimes the save points were a little too far apart. It would also be nice if you could hold the jump key for a long jump and tap it for a short jump because somtimes you are forced to wait for your character to come back down to the ground so you can jump again. I also found that it offered no real challenge, but maybe I didn't get far enough. Actually the arena part gets a little challenging.
Anyway, check this one out for a bit if you can stand the graphics (which really aren't all that bad actually)
