The Return Review

Pros: Great graphics, cool plot, boomerang arms, macabre themes, an upgrade system and voice acting that doesn't suck!
Cons: Incomplete cut scenes, placeholder graphics, low difficulty.
The Return
In this horror-platformer (is that even a genre?) you play as Gregory, a man who has been risen from the dead to wreak vengeance upon the murderer of him and his wife. In your undead state you can bite, thrash and pull off your arm and use it as a boomerang (The latter being my favorite). In order to restore health, you can feast upon the humans and other zombies you kill, something I found particularly innovative and splendidly macabre. The game really is centered around its plot, or at least tries to be. There are many incomplete cut scenes littered throughout the game, but the ones that are complete have some really cool voice acting from Sora himself (I assume). The graphics really are outstanding, there are some placeholders here and there, but I didn't really mind. The gameplay is solid, and ripping off my arm, using it to beat a villager to death and then feasting upon his flesh is one of the most satisfying things I've done in a videogame for a long time. There is also an upgrade system, which I found somewhat useless because all the enemies in the game are already easily defeated, but it was a nice touch. The game is obviously still in beta, and I really hope Sora completes it eventually.

By "Horror" I think he means that it's related to death, zombies, and all that scary stuff. I doubt this game actually scares him though, or anyone at all really.

"horror-platform"!!! really!?! unless you have been hiding in your room with your eyes shut and ears covered, this is hardly a horror. yes, for gamemaker its decent, but to call it a horror is a huge step to leap across. go out and rent "dead space" and play it at night in a room, pitch black with surround sound and you will know what a horror is. I don't mean to rip on you (I am truly sorry if I offended you in any way) but to say a simple gamemaker game is a horror is kind of ridiculous.
