Dominos 2: Winter edition Review
By Ryan PF on 01 January 2008

Pros: Gameplay, level editor

Cons: The signs were helpful... why did they go away?

A fun game

I've been trying all the top entries for the competition, and Dominos 2 stands out from the crowd.
The gameplay is the best aspect of D2. I'm not sure if the author coded the engine, but whether marbs did or not, it was very good. All the objects are interactive and the levels had very unique design. The difficulty was just right, because it was a challenge, but it let you start from many checkpoints within the level. Big thumbs up for marbs!
The sounds and music were OK. The levels I played shared the same music, but it was a nice tune that I enjoyed. The sounds weren't noticeable at all to me.
My only disappointment was the disappearance of signs in the later levels. They were really helpful, and I eventually got stuck because I had no signs to give me clues.
I played Dominos 2 for longer than I'd played any other game in this contest. Best of luck, marbs!

    Thanks for the review =)

The physics of the game is powered by GMphysics, a DLL, however the game engine was all made by me. The music was from newgrounds. The lack of sounds should hopefully be fixed when GMphysics V5 is complete, so then I will be able to detect various things about collisions and play the different sounds accordingly. As for the signs going away, I didn't want to overwhelm the player with too much writing, but maybe I should add some more back in.
