Space Miner Review

Pros: Just about everything is right except....
Cons: The controls... I hate the controls!
"Minor" Pwnage
Of course, to go into more detail would be necessary.
Space Miner is indeed a game worthy of its name, for you are indeed, mining in space.
The concept of the game is based on the simple, yet extremely capable physics engine in GameMaker.
When a stage starts, you land with a ship on an asteroid, digging through space ores, collecting space money for your space corporate giant of a boss. With many space miners at your disposal, you blast through 15 days of grueling mine work, collecting various gems, making money, meeting your quota, and blasting the occasional alien.
These ores are not benign, they move and tumble as you dig your tunnel through them, and come crashing down on you. The hostile environment of the asteroid produces a Lava lake which will incinerate your workers if they happen to slip in.
The game is difficult, but not so much that it's impossible to continue. The scoring is based on the amount of money earnt during your expeditions, and your rank is gauged at the end of each day.
Different ores and power-ups lie within the dusty mines also, collecting them will be beneficial to your company.
If I have to pick on something, it would be the nasty controls. It is really hard to guide your men through the treacherous subterrains of an asteroid when they just fall through and die. The thing that is the biggest problem is the foundation of the playing field. You dig through the ores too quickly and fall to your doom relatively fast. Also, the physics engine isn't fully developed, so some ores get stuck in midair and such. Perhaps an option to shake or tumble the stage when the ores start becoming uneven could be implemented (hint, developer, hint), of course, such an option will cost money in the game, but so does everything.
This game is a great past time. Highly recommended.
I wish the rating system would have a "fun" option because you know, you can have horrible of everything it listed (except maybe gameplay) but still get a huge kick out of the game. So in my custom "Fun" Rating scale, this game gets a solid 5 Stars (out of 6).
FUN: *****

Accidentally killing lots of miners is part of the fun of the game.

The controls are not supposed to be perfect. That is why you have so many miners at your disposal.
