Ambush in Sector 9 Review

Pros: Amazing fun gameplay! Hard! Great graphics and effects
Cons: Hard!
Wait.... It doesn't cost coins?
First thoughts:
An amazing game that feels like you're playing it at an arcade! Every time I play I wonder why I don't have to put coins in to continue after each life. (Which happens more often than I would like.)
It first I was going to give graphics 6 stars, but I have seen the demo for the second one and I have relized that they could be better. Don't get me wrong, this game's graphics and effects are stunning. But the second one's are even better so I'll save 6/6 stars for that one once he releases it.
The sounds, likewise, are something from an arcade also. Every effect, explosion, and shot has a very nice retro-y arcade-y feel.
The gameplay is where this game both shines and get's most of it's critisim. It's a topdown shooter. But rather than do mouse aim/fire. The ship fires at all times, and you merely rotate it with two keys. This is partly what makes it feel so arcadeish. There is no mouse you can use in an arcade everything is joystick and buttons and that is exactly what this game feels like. However, if you don't like that then you most likely won't like this game. But you still have to try it out.
The story is basic and simple nothing super, but it gets the job done.
Overall: An amazing example of how much fun a basic simple idea can be when done properly.
