Star Wars: Falcon Flight Review
By ZeonZumDeikun on 27 February 2008

Pros: Nice sound effects, simple enough controls, music fits, fairly clean graphics.

Cons: Game play is pretty simple, not a lot of story, don't do much more than sit there and shoot TIE Fighters, the scaling is a bit off (TIE Fighters larger than the Falcon?), doesn't feel like you're "piloting" the Falcon because it moves too quickly and tur

"Star Wars: Falcon Flight" Review

It's a nice game for a start. The graphics are pretty clean, the sound effects are spot-on (other than the generic Game Maker explosion), and over all the game play is smooth. But as far as I can tell, you don't do much but fly around the screen shooting at an endless wave of TIE Fighters to advance onto the next stage. I'd like to see a few more goals, other than "kill but don't be killed".

The scale of the graphics is off. While the Death Star seems to be almost in correct size to the planet below, the TIE Fighters are much too large-- or perhaps the Falcon is much too small. It'd be nice to see the Falcon actually being larger-- perhaps three times as large as it is now. It should be larger than the TIE Fighters, not smaller.
Lastly, the Falcon moves to quickly and turns to swiftly to feel like you're controlling a large, bulky freighter. It feels more like a starfighter-- a very nimble starfighter. But maybe I'm just nitpicking now.

Overall, it's a decent game and with work, could be pretty neat. But it's a very nice start.

Anyhow thank you for reviewing the game. You know, it's difficult to think of what is right and whay is wrong in your onw game.

And about a story - does this game need it? There is the story in the film. But I'll think about putting some text before every mission, not just the first one.
And of course there are different goals - in first mission you should fight against Darth Vader, in the second - land on ISD. There is minim score you have to get before you can do it. At least - is there anything else to do in arcade space fighter?

It was planned as a game about piloting X-wing first, but then we decided to change it to Falcon to be in line with the story. And really it's not smaller then TIE-fighter, it's the same size =) It's also wrong of course, it should be larger, but how will it affect balance? If it is a large bulky freighter, it will be difficult to avoid enemy fire and asteroids.
