Lizardmen Review

Pros: Lizardmen felt like a classic platformer
Cons: Not enough originality
Not to visually original, but OK.
Well, what can I say. When I first played Lizardmen I thought about the graphics resembling another game, and lost some hope that it may turn out to be pretty good. I decided to play it anyway just to see due to the lack of my knowledge about the game back on the Sega. It appeared OK at first, but then had to read. The font color (green) used for some of the text was barley readable and hurt my eyes.
Had the game been a little more visually original, I may have thought more of it. On the contrary, it was actually pretty fun and I must say, that Lizardmen is still one of the better platformer game / fangames I have seen using Game Maker. It had decent controls for only using the keyboard to control it. It had good level design and solid platform collision which made the game feel classic. The only emphasis on the game I can muster up is that it showed some decent coding as far as platformers go. Traditional jump, land and fire but it works.
Graphics Rate 1 - Not originally drawn, but Ripped from another game which would have received about a 4 or 5 for its time
Sound Rate 2 - Same as above
Gameplay 4 - Was easy to learn how to jump, land, fire and duck considering keyboards are not the best solution for platformers. Joystick controls would have made it better
Story 3 - The story was not as original as it could be considering a lot of it was based of another game. The English grammar could have used some fixing up.
Interface 5 - The interface was nicely drawn to the screen, and the upgrade shop was easily navigated. The game screen could have been larger and the gameplay interface should have rested around it so it would not overlap the in-game action. It would have been complete for me otherwise.
OVERALL 5 - The best part of this game was it's fun. Jumping and shooting was nice plus it's still one of the better Game Maker platform games I have played.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! I LOVE THIS GAME.... Takes be back a bit though. I instantly recognised this game.
I rate this game highly as a remake of an old classic, forget the rubbish reviews about if the games original or not. It's a remake... people need to lighten up, I mean come on how many remakes of games do u see on this site alone? There's tonnes, and I do have to say and agree with the other reviews about the coding; due to the fact that you can see the effort thats gone into it.

I have to agree with you on this review. Although, I do like the current screen size.
Darkleo tends to do fan games or games based off of Sega games (and he does an excellent job!) but it would be cool if he used some of his engines with his own characters. The only problem would be that he'd either have to do the sprites himself or have someone make them for him.
