Thanks one of my friends suggested that but I forgot. When you have the item screen open (open with I) it tells you what club you have when you pick one up it tells you the new one.

I really like the premise, but the control make it a little unrewarding to play. Why do I have to press space to pick up a rock? And I run out of them very quickly anyway, it's easier to just take damage to kill and I've run out of rocks when it comes to foes I can't kill by running into them. Also, I think I picked up a club but couldn't use it? Tried the keys 1-4.

I'd suggest making rock pickup automatic, and have rocks spawn like the monsters do.

This seems like a good idea, it even works. However the movement speed kills it. Make the caveman and the enemies about 3-4 times faster and you've got a solid game here.
