How charming!
My, my, am I playing one of the first original topdown shooters ever invented? It's well programmed, addicting, and just plain fun! Sadly, this is fun I could not join in, as I have a laptop with no numpad. That and the graphics is the only flaw I can detect. The penguins look like painted blocks of ice. They are essentially colored squares, and they have very little flavor to make them different from eachother. The spinning snowball effect was very nice, and it added more depth to the game then I expected. The greatest shortcoming, besides the fact that without a numpad the game is unplayable, is the fact that it is not online. You must have someone sitting next to you on the computer to play multiplayer, and that is difficult with a computer.
The menu effect was a very nice touch, and it was a lot more original than most menus I have both seen or made. All together, Penguin Commandos II is a great sequel and lives up to its predecessor in every way.
