Super Mario Bros: Bowser's Terror Review
By MacflyX on 19 July 2008

Pros: Good controls, good music, nice graphics

Cons: Some glitches, no story

The terror isn't Bowser...

Once again, Mario must rescue Peach from Bowser.

The game provides a map system to travel between levels. Well done. Graphics are of good quality. The levels share the same level of difficulty (not so easy). Doomships are the toughest. The first one seems harder than later ones.

Power-ups are basic (mushroom and fireflower) and are always offered when we start a level. Why can't we get one in the middle of a level? I saw once a starman. So, we can get invincible. That's good. But I didn't see any other one in the game.

The game comes with no instructions. Bummer. Like most of Hello's Mario games, Mario moves with the arrows, jumps with Shift and runs/shoots fire with Control. Running allows to use the pink triangle that makes Mario climb a wall. Be sure to be at least 2-3 blocks away from the triangle before running to it. Once we get used to the controls, the gameplay is pretty good.

There are glitches especially in the ghost houses with the P-switch. Also, in rare cases, if Mario gets a fireflower, it takes a while to get effective.

One thing : the game is called Bowser's Terror but the only terrible thing that happen is that we have to travel through all these (medium to hard) levels to defeat Bowser so easily at the end...

Just like most of Hello's Mario games, I enjoyed it. Good work!
