The Gauntlet Demo Review
By Discursion on

Pros: Good challenge, generally well-made.
Cons: Very hard, difficult controls, no check-points...
Fine, but I can't stand it.
First of all, when I make reviews, I don't try to be as kind as possible just like so many people. This game could be pretty nice, the gameplay is actually very interesting, even if not very original, but there are too many little things that needs to be changed. If the goal was to make an extremely hard and non-attractive game, well-done. I mean, the game is not bad looking, but here's the negative points, precisely, from bad to worse :
-Story : Someone said there was a storyline. Really? I couldn't pass level 5, and before that, there's no story. But that's no essential.
-Sounds : No sounds in-game. Not talking about music, which at some points started to make me mad. But it's OK.
-Controls : When you move, all your screen goes with you. at some points, the screen follow (because of the way the room is made), but sometime, it doesn't. Most of the time, you must slow down very slowly (because you don't want to restart, again!) then change direction when needed.
-Diificulty : Well... First of all, you are using you mouse, so it's already difficult depending on your mouse. And it's a precision game, mouse + precision = you keep dying. Plus, the paths are just so fuc***ng small, damn! Enemies attack very fast, and you die without knowing why. Most of the time, you must run randomly if you don't want to get hit, but then you get into a wall and die anyway. Finally, when you are at the end, and you die because you moved a little too fast, you just want to destroy the Earth. There should be checkpoints! This is essentiel!!! Alright, too long review for this little game.
