Fireball CGA Review

Pros: Gameplay, music, graphics

Cons: All keyboards cannot handle 9 simultaneous presses.

AwesomeNESs

When I first took a look at the screenshots of the game, I was thinking "Isn't that something from Gradius?" and I was not completely wrong. Gradius were for the NES; and this game would make good profit for the local NES vendor, too, if lest it was made for the european Famicom, twenty or so years before today.

Graphics: 4 / 5
The beauty of the three-colored scheme! Are the characters based upon the first enemies in Gradius? So I tought, but the discovery of a ponytail on the right-sided character stirred my mind. What are they? It thrills inspiration in that old-style way. Though, the enemies all look the same, which keeps you on alert, but can feel slightly unvariating.

Sound: 5 / 5
The music feels just as retro as it should, and it is even catchy. Sound effects just hit the right spot! Much more to add would be unneccasary.

Gameplay: 4 / 5
Everything is about gameplay like this! You either control both characters yourself, or share they keyboard and the spacebar to cooperate. Throwing a ball forth and back, you cream appearing enemies before they tough or shoot you. The big flaw here, is that enemies can spawn on you since they appear on the screen as opposed to out of it...
And some keyboards cannot handle diagonal movement on both characters at the same time.

Story: 0 / 5
There are no story. Not that it would be neccesary.

Interface: 3 / 5
Score, Highscore, and button explanations, which is all you need.

Overall Rating: 4 / 5
This game is worthy of much more than a low rating and comments from two sole members, you would enjoy the carress of the game just like when reading a poem.
