Zone Review

Pros: Addicting gameplay, well-suited graphics, excellent interface, great sound/music.
Cons: Not much of a story, and it's difficult at times to tell where you are.
This is my kind of game!
Zone is a simple arcade-style game with matching graphics, music, and sound. The gameplay is simple, just kill the enemy ships and blow up the enemy base. With the highscore list, fast-paced nature, and great music and sounds, this game actually easily outperforms Space Invaders and Asteroids with ease, and even in some ways outperforms Star Control.
While the story mode in Zone is rather pointless, the arcade mode easily makes up for it. You can overpower your fleet, overpower your opponent's fleet, or even raise or lower your health. The flexibility keeps gameplay fresh. In addition, the ability to create your own scenario adds on even more to replay value.
The interface is mostly very well done, with the exception that it is difficult to see where your ship is on the radar at times.
Graphics and sound fit perfectly with the style of gameplay, creating a nice, arcade-style environment. In particularly the music sounds great, but still retains the arcadey feel.
Overall, if you haven't played this game, you should. I have never before found a better fast-paced, arcade-style game. You will be amazed by how great it is.
