Chess! Review

Pros: True-to-life moves, automatic Castling, graphics aren't everything
Cons: the A.I. of the CPU was a tad too easy to checkmate. Other than that, really nothing else is a "con".
Review of Chess!
"Chess!" is the best Chess, well, the ONLY Chess replica made with Game Maker I've ever seen. The game is true to real life in the sense that the programmer has obviously worked at this so that the game knows what moves are legal and which moves aren't legal. While I found that checkmating the CPU was too easy for me, I did enjoy playing, as I don't have a Chess board. I sold mine.
Anyway, as for the sound, there is none. But it doesn't take away from the greatness of the game. Chess is supposed to be a quiet game, anyway, not polluted with annoying sounds and cheap, scratchy speech implements. The graphics aren't the best, but no one on yoyogames.com expects Chessmaster 9000 graphics, either, so I guess the graphics get a 4/4. The Story really is irrelevant, because Chess is a board game that takes place over some kind of battelfield, and "Checkmate" is a corruption of "the king is dead" in some other language, not English. There you go, there's your story! As for interface, it can't get much simpler. Simply click and drag pieces to legal spots for that piece to move to and release the mouse to drop the piece there. The gameplay is smooth, but swift, as I found it too easy to checkmate the CPU player, as I said before.
I give this GM Chess game a 5/5.
