Zoggledorf Review

Pros: +Clever twist on the classic ice block puzzle +Cute setting and characters +Record of time, moves, and score

Cons: -Simplistic graphics

Cute, clever, and challenging

Every console action-adventure has a puzzle where you need to push blocks on a slippery ice surface to hold down a button. Zoggledorf, by Hoytman, makes that puzzle interesting. The walls aren't just normal brick; they consist of trees, bushes, rocks, fire, and water. If one of your "Zoggles" is next to a type of block, you have "knowledge" of that block; fire won't hurt you, or you won't sink in water. Combinations of knowledges can let you burn and extinguish trees or bridge water. The puzzles are tricky, but clever, and the whole thing is wrapped in a cute, if simple, story. Added bonuses: a record of your best time, moves, and score for each level, and a different sound for each block type so that sometimes solving a puzzle sounds like a little drum sequence.
