Pros: Great Idea, cute sound effects, good game play.
Cons: Graphics need work, Sound is low quality, needs music.
Pretty good, but needs some work.
Well, I have seen quite a few tycoon games on YoYoGames, some good, some terrible, and some in-between. Although the screenshots may give a bad impression, this game is much deeper and creative than you may think.
The story is quite simple: You are a game company and you design games. Nothing more, nothing less. The game starts off with a top-down view of your whole game company. There are buildings each labeled with their respective task, such as "Hire Worker", "Research new Genres" and "Make Game". But there is much more depth than this. First you must hire a worker, then choose what type of worker he will be. You can choose from things such as a designer, researcher or lawyer. Each worker costs money, and producing a game does too. If you choose a designer, then you can make a game. It's great that you don't have a single "Make Game" building, but instead you have different genres and types of games that you can make, such as a military or economic game. After one of your workers creates a game from one of the genres available, you must lead him to the "Publish Game" building where, as the name suggests, you publish your game. After you publish your game you can release it. Releasing your game will give you money in which you can make more games or hire workers with.
The game only uses the mouse. Mostly you will only need to be clicking on workers to select them then click on a building for them to do that task. It is very simple, quick and easy to use.
The graphics aren't amazing really, they look like they could be retouched a little. Most of the game looks like it was made with Microsoft Paint. I would suggest for spgames to use some higher quality graphics program, such as GIMP ( http://www.gimp.org ). The sound is pretty cute, as it was recorded by spgames probably with his computer microphone. This was pretty creative instead of stealing some sound effects from some other game or website. The only problem with this is that the sounds are low quality and you can hear the ambient buzz in the background. This gives it a slight unprofessional feel, but it it's nothing to worry about. Also there is no music at all. Music isn't much of a problem either though.
Overall this game is pretty nice. It really does need better graphics and sound, though, but it really is a great game and deserves recognition for its great idea and deep gameplay.
