Ball mania Review

Pros: A decent way to pass the time. Improves reflexes dramatically. The right side of frustrating.

Cons: The computer must be muted once the destroyer balls are encountered.

A comprehensive review of 'ball mania'

I must confess it is a very rare occurence that I play games in which the main objective is to click on flying balls...but here we are. Ball Mania is the first game made by Theta 93 and is, as such, a fair offering. At its simplest level, it is a scaled-up version of the practice game in the help tutorial. As we delve deeper, however, we find both dark epistemelogical and ethical undertones. For instance, how a ball that bounces in a narrow space become two balls, each with the same area of the first? Is this simply a 'real' example of Banach-Tarski paradox? Or is simply just the woefully inadequate processing power of my computer? And is it really morally right to destroy sixteen black balls when instead we could focus our attention on destroying the golden ball (itself worth sixteen points)? Who knows. Nonetheless, seldom have I seen a game in which, every two levels, one must adapt one's gameplay to match the new set of balls in the room. And the option to loop back to the start to cumulatively improve one's high score is inspired. It is a pity that no messages are displayed informing the player of the new balls that are to be encountered, however on the whole this is a very worthwhile game. And it's free! Download now!
