Shoot 2008 Review
By Ludwig X on 01 December 2010

Pros: Custom graphics, GOOD graphics, nice effects, cool sounds, catchy music, never gets old...

Cons: Glitchy modes that aren't supposed to be there, no story, no differing boss ship sprites...

Been playing it for months and still not tired! :D

This is one of my most favorite games on the site. It's actually better than it's next version, 'Shoot 3.'
Let my explain why:

Subject 1: How the game looks. Overall: 94/100
In depth
{The graphics are one of the best parts of the game!
They add feeling, spice, and most of all... They're 16 bit!!!
The space ships looked amazing, and all the enemies would have been
so boring if they weren't fully different from each other. The reason 6 gets
taken away from graphics is one microscopic problem... All the bosses look
the same... If you would have at least altered their pallets, it would have been
awesome! The effects were also cool. The exploding ships looked great.}

Subject 2: How the game sounds. Overall: 78/100
In depth
{The audio was cool. That's how I would put the whole thing into words.
It's got the music that goes so long you can listen to it forever... And then
those sound effects. The reason this is a 4/5 78/100 rating is because that
one song got sort of old. It did the best it could do for one song, but if you
would have tried an approach like MmM, with a looping sound track of about
8 or 9 songs, you would have gotten about... Eh, 100/100. The laser sound
was cool... The ship explosion for the enemies was just right, (but you could
have lowered the one for P1's ship in volume... Good job.}

Subject 3: How the game plays. Overall: 98/100
In depth
{Obviously, the gameplay that this game holds is the cream of the crop.
Gaming is a hobby, but once you played Shoot 2008, you can't go a gaming
day without playing that too. It... Just never gets old! Shooting ships and making
them explode is an awesome way to spend the day... Especially when they give you
POINTS! A game in Shoot 2008 can easily go to last half an hour after you get good enough,
and THAT'S what I call a game. The reason I took two off the score is because there are modes
you can get to by pressing the down arrow key enough times. These are sort of cool, but they
give you error messages a whole lot... And that always takes away from the game.
Any devout Game maker would have released a new version without these. (Or finished them,
even better.) So... The gameplay is almost perfect.}

Subject 4: How the story plays out. Overall: 4/100
In depth
{This game doesn't need a story to be perfect, but a conversation
between the captain and the aliens sure would have been a treat...
The reason this gets 3 more points than it would have is because of
announcing the new types of enemies like it does... I don't know why I
love it so much. "New type of drone discovered! 'insert drone name here'."
I won't count this against the game because it wasn't meant to have a story.}

Subject 5: How the game runs. Overall: 100/100
In depth
{The game ran perfectly. Nothing more to say here.
I really liked the controls! Moving the mouse around
to move and shooting all the time created the game's own
style, and it's great to get some variety.}

Subject 6: The game overall: Overall: 92.5/100
In depth
{The best shooter game I have ever played! A must play for any
YoYo gamer! You'll get a whole lot of enjoyment out of it!}
