Pros: Graphics, sound, weapon effects, enemy formations, all of these were done well.

Cons: Difficulty is too high for the casual player, even on "easy" setting. Spelling errors.

Good game, not quite done yet I think.

I think overall you did an excellent job. I love the menu screens and the graphics throughout the game, I think they all flow together nicely. I like the feel of it and it has high replay value (the average player probably won’t mind playing again). I think the sounds and music chosen fit well with the game too.

Now, to be constructively helpful, I think you should quickly run your game text through a spell-checker because I noticed at least one spelling error…you spelled oxygen like “oxygene.” Now it’s nothing so bad as “All your base are belong to us!” LOL =) but I noticed it, and if you meant to do it that way (like if it’s in the story) you need to explain to the player in the story why it is spelled differently.

Next, though it is only a personal preference, I think that you should tone down the difficulty level a lot more for the easy setting. Generally, if you want to get (and keep) the largest possible number and type of players, you want to have a game that can be played (and beaten) by many people of varying skill levels. Try Easy - (easy enough a little kid can beat it) Medium - (you're going to need to concentrate and have a steady hand) Hard - (You're really going to have a hard time winning here). That is how I look at difficulty levels normally.

The only other thing I noticed is that the player ship is set to follow the mouse exactly. By this I mean that if I move the mouse fast or slow, the ship moves the same. If this is how you want it, there is no problem. But as a pointer, if you wish to mimic a more “real” feel, you might try to use some friction in the movement to give an “acceleration” feel to the movement. If you do this though, it could be a large undertaking depending on how you’ve done your code, because you would most likely have to knock down the speed on some of your enemy projectiles to compensate for a slower player ship.
