Ancient Battlegrounds (Completed) Review
By cman on 08 July 2009

Pros: It has mesopotamia in it, shooting arrows, its a war game.

Cons: Read the review.

What.

Its nice to have a refreshing new war game.
And its awesome that it is ancient and has mesopotamia in it.
But its not refreshing to have a new bad, unclear, and hard-2-understand war game.

First of all, the graphics aren't the worst i've seen on yoyogames, but they are still unbeleivebly terrible. they would even be terrible if you put them on a ds. The only time you might say these graphics were good is if they were on a gameboy color, or if they were a cheap $1 game of 1997. The room speed is real slow which only makes the graphics seem worse.

The sounds are horrible to hear as well. I mean, they are good quality, but they dont suit the game too much and there are not nearly enough of that ear candy. The sound for when you click a button is so quiet and unsuitable i couldn't tell what it was!!!
The music is slow and boring. It might suit a game about indian back-alley merchants, but not a game about cushites fighting everybody in an ancient country. the music should be fast and exciting, which will contribute to the players enjoyment.

The inter face and gameplay. these are my worst enemies in this game.
And the instructions.
The instructions were so long and so unclear and so everything that my eyes got sore so i stopped reading.
But when i started playing, i didn't know a thing i had to do! When i was waging war (i started by clicking a flag to see what would happen)
I couldn't tell what i was meant 2 do because the instructions were so unclear, so i could not have any fun.
It was kinda fun killing people with arrows, but if your gonna force people through that boredom and eyesore of reading the instructions, just so they can reap the 15% fun this game offered, you just shouldn't have made it. even a tutorial wouldv'e been more fun than this game 20+ page instrucions. And the menu! don't get me started. Possibley the easiest thing to make in a game, the menu, and the maker of this game stuffed it up. i just dont get it! What could have been put in an options menu was cluttered all throughout the screen! and when you click a button, the drop down menu would stay there until you changed rooms.

Im so sorry, but your 200+ ours effort hasn't seemed to have payed off. sorry, but i really did not enjoy playing this game at all.

Really sorry, i can see your effort hasn't payed off.
2/5. Im sorry if i offended you with my review, but it is my opinoin. i dont know how it got featured.

What people want is to play a game that takes only moments to begin playing.
The gameplay is fine, Commander Jaspo, it is how you present it that people are upset about. Try reorganizing the menu and tutorial a bit, e.g. a different LITTLE tutorial for each aspect of the game (e.g. one for moving armies, another for basic fighting when you are in battle, another for combos, etc).
