At first, this seemed a little on the plain and samey side. I think it's a little too easy (until the boss) with too many similar challenges. However, the excellent sprites, the good level design, the quality of the movement and control.. plus the fact its so big means this really is a well-done game! And there are some unique challenges and mini games along the way too, Great work!
