ultimate mazes! Review
By fawfulmk-II on 24 May 2009

Pros: vast amount of levels. deliciously dificult. wonderful puzzles

Cons: movement is floaty. not many things were actually made by the designer. those arrows.... retrying doesn't reset the timer.

a puzzler that works your nerves and your brain.

in this game, you control a guy who falls into a maze and wants to go back home. in order to do so, you must pass through 35 different floors full of puzzles and ghosts. first thing off the bat is the difficulty- the creator states it as being extremely hard, but it's not MEGA hard like some games here (*cough* Soldexus*cough), but it is difficult. the puzzles were all nicely done, and they almost all incorporate switches, each of which has a different function. it's a shame that the creator didn't go deeper with the design-instead of making his own character, he just ripped a link sprite and used it. but whatever- the movement, however, is kind of annoying. you slide from one square to the next, meaning even when you let go of the button, the player keeps on moving. the worst part, though, is the timer- if you mess up on a puzzle, you can reset, but the problem is that if you do, THE TIME DOESN'T GO BACK UP. this means you can lose 2 lives, which is pretty cheap, meaning the best way to restart is the ol' F5/F6 method. but I'm just shooting fish in a barrel- this is probably one of the best remakes of the Maze GM game here, and it is challenging, so it is definately worth playing. 7/10.
