Super Lame Adventures By Spider~ Review
By death on 24 November 2009

Pros: graphics

Cons: ripped sounds, no lives

review

Graphics: [A] all original graphics, drawn fairly nice. The backgrounds were great for this game, it's what most original games here lack. Lots of variety.

Sound: [B] Great use of ripped sounds, everything sounds nice and fits well. However ripped sounds for a game as original as this is disappointing.

Gameplay: [C] was fairly fun, level design was okay, better in some areas, worse in others. Should be a cap on how many knives you can throw at once. (e.g. 3 every 2 seconds) jumping should have more control but it was fine most the time.
The area that i couldn't complete was the wave level. It started up on you very quickly and for the style of level (running forward as fast as you can) the level design didn't match. To many things shot at you while you were trying to run, killed you to many times and repeating the same areas were too annoying. I believe this level killed it for me.

Story: [F] no story

Interface: [A] no big problems with the interface at all. Everything runs fine, didn't get stuck or anything.

Overall: [B] aside from some level design and the ripped sounds. This game is great, however due to not being able to complete it with 30 minutes of play on one level, i give this game a B. Another thing i couldn't agree with was the way you re-played levels. After dying you go back to a check point but all the enemies are killed. Also having no lives kind of takes a way the main challenge and the game makes up for it with very difficult areas.

lol well i hope you do add an original sound track. I've had the same problem as you with levels being to difficult lol but i think the whole idea of the wave level is what makes it difficult. Though it's a nice idea, it's really hard to pull off. I did it in one of my games with a spike wall lol.

Oh and in response to the ripped sound issue, I actually do have a program which I can make my own sfx and midis on (and I’m not that bad at it either), I was just being lazy ._. If I do remake this game it will be with original sounds and music. :B

Thanks for taking your time to make such an in depth review; reading these really helps me improve :)

The wave level was much too difficult, as was the last level, which you didn’t get to play but you probably saved yourself a lot of trouble :\ I'm learning how to make the difficulty in my games more balanced and fair now, so my next game won’t make you want to kill something. xD
