Me no gud at math. And the backgrounds? I just photocopy it, use Photoshop to clear up the lines into basic pixels and then use an average editing program. There are better ways to do it, but I'm trying to do it as cheaply as possible. Mostly because I do not have money to blow on programs costing hundreds of dollars.

The thing is I want to make it unique, not just a "move right, punch punch kick move right" sort of thing, too repetitive. I'm actually hand drawing the backgrounds and then loading them onto my computer in pixel format to color and edit. Hope it works out. But thanks for that code btw, tho I'm too computer code incompetent to understand it at the moment.

I Can help with that so basically keyboard_check just means if your HOLDING down the key and X and y are just movements on a co-ordinate grid, if you dont know what that is, Take 6th grade math again.
