That means that the background file is either misplaced or that you're attempting to run it inside of the ZIP file. You must first extract the contents of the ZIP file to the directory of your choosing!

Yeah, sadly, the help file format isn't compatible with Windows Vista / 7. Had I known that at the time, I wouldn't have used it.

I've never claimed that any of the resources provided are mine. In fact, I've completed negated that in many of my posts as well as in the help file provided. Being a Game Maker engine, it can be easily modified to extend what was provided by me to fit whatever you want. As far as I know, you can't make a game other than an RPG in RPG Maker and the amount of control that you have over the RPG Maker Engine is quite limited in comparison. As for why make the engine? To see if I could and I did.

It's not playable because it has mostly external resources. Since the GM plugin doesn't allow for external resources, it is not.
