BTW, hit entire name is AtomBombProductions. If you move your mouse over a user's name and look at the link address in your browser (bottom-left corner in Firefox), the last part (after the final forward slash) is the user's name. Or of course you can go to their profile and look there.

Of course don't put the 1ups in the open. Just make them available to find. Also, don't be shy about giving the player 3ups. In nearly every Nintendo Mario game, this method you describe is possible in a number of levels. You have to remember that all extra lives do is prevent game overs (where the player would have to restart a world from the very beginning). They in no other way make the game easier. But they do prevent frustration.

A great place to see sliding is world 1-4 of SMB3.

Actually, I just remembered, sliding in Mario Builder is radically different than SMB3. Mario flies off when he starts sliding (which makes no sense) and doesn't stay entirely on the ground during the slide. In SMB3, Mario starts sliding slowly, progressing to faster speeds as he slides more. But he is always in contact with the ground. If you feel the need, you can take out sliding, but you should eventually put it back in, probably with some new sliding code with better physics.
