Well, I played the new version. Anyway, It's ok, but a little too simplistic. The boss battle was weird (and could have used a health bar.). I take it you made the music, and if you did, it was good. Average over all.

This game could be fun, if it weren't for the abbundance of unfair obstacles that can't be passed. For example, in order to avoid one of those mouse trap things, I had to jump, but there was a candle thing DIRECTLY above it, meaning that there was no way to go that doesen't make noise.

It feels fairly origional, while still being a mario game. I especially like how you managed to sorta meld the Mario platforming with a sorta fighting game feel.
