@Simau: I'm familiar with the Touhou games by reputation only. Because there are two weapons the player controls with the same key, and because you can hold down the key (don't need to keep tapping away at it), I think an auto-fire option wouldn't quite fit. @Shushgame: Thank you, sir. High praise coming from a game designer/academic I respect as much as you.

@BlankD&ta: I've gotten rid of the particle effects & indeed given the game somewhat of a graphical overhaul. Not sure what you mean about placing the player at the bottom-- you can move in four directions. @shellsnore: Thank you, that's what i was going for. :-)

Finally got to the third set of levels. Man, you just really ratchet up the challenge, don't you? I started a Let's Play of your game, my first ever: http://secondpartygames.blogspot.com/2010/04/lets-play-wootman-zero.html

Really enjoying this game, my favourite in the competition so far (besides, um, my own) though I'm still stuck on the second level four-- I've only managed to get past the bullet-spewing flower hanging over the spike pit once and the rest of the time my timing's just plain lousy.
